Some Mental Health Cartoons

Last week, I went to see my Cycologist.

I told him I was depressed about all the climate change induced flooding in Australia. He suggested that humans would develop new ways to adapt.

I told him that I was also depressed by the lack of color on winter streets and the fact that everyone in the Twin Cities paints their house beige.

He told me that I was having a midlife crisis and needed to get an appropriate bicycle.

I told him that I was afraid to bike on all the big 4-lane boulevards– a mixture of streets and roads that Charles Marohn refers to as “stroads”.

I told him I was also afraid of being hit by one of these huge blunt-front vehicles that everyone drives these days. I have a feeling they may be partly responsible for the big increase in pedestrians and cyclists being killed by cars.

If I was afraid of crashes, he told me I needed to get a puffy bike to ensure I had a soft landing or bounced off of whatever hit me.

He also suggested that I bike at night when there are far fewer cars on the road.

After talking to my cycologist, I felt better but not completely satisfied. Maybe next time I’ll go see one of those drive-thru psychics on University Avenue.
